The Stanford Club of Hong Kong is delighted to welcome Karin Ann, BS ’91 and MS ’91, as our honorable speaker at this event.
A Hong Kong native, Karin is Founder of International Montessori School (“IMS”) in Hong Kong. IMS is considered one of the world’s leading Montessori bilingual programs in Chinese and English for kindergarten and primary children.
Karin will share her personal journey bringing Montessori education to Hong Kong before Montessori became a household term. She will also discuss future trends in education such as Authentic Learning, Positive Education, and the changing role of the Teacher.
This event should be interesting to parents, educators or anyone interested in education.

About the Speaker
Karin Ann is the Founder of the International Montessori School (“IMS”) in Hong Kong. Following a career in business and finance, she decided to pursue her true calling in education and founded IMS in 2002 with Anne Sawyer.
Karin is a Stanford alumnus. She received a BS in Mathematical and Computational Science and an MS in Engineering-Economic Systems, both from Stanford in 1991.
At IMS, Karin has fostered a unique bilingual learning environment catering to the needs of both native and non-native learners. She introduced a multisensory approach to learning Chinese and pioneered a Chinese curriculum based on the Montessori philosophy and method. IMS is now considered one of the world’s leading Montessori bilingual programs for kindergarten and primary children.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Karin is a TEDx speaker, winner of Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and member of the Children’s Development Fund Steering Committee. She currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband and two children.
